A New Hope

It's Star Wars week.... and I just couldn't help myself. I was watching the original movie last week in preparation to see the new flick on Friday. And it got me thinking..... about the energy of hope.

Bri Seeley Star Wars

If you haven't seen the trilogy, go watch it. Right now.

At the beginning of the movie, Princess Leia sends the infamous message, "Help me Obi Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope." right before she gets captured (very passively, I may add) by the dark side.

Luckily for her, Obi Wan answered her plea. But, what if he had chosen not to?

Here's my problem with 'hope.' It was August 2013. I had set a date to get my 5th tattoo. I was super excited because it was going to be in Italian (la lingua piu bella nel mondo). All of my tattoos were in different languages, and I had been waiting for the perfect one to do in Italian to honor my love for the country and my time there.

For days I had sat in front of Google Translate to figure out which word I would be permanently imprinting on my body. Until, finally, I found it.

La Speranza

It rolled off the tongue. The letters flowed together in the font I had chosen. That was it.

La Speranza.

Fast forward to the morning of my appointment. I woke early as always with the first thought of, "It's tattoo day!" But immediately following that I felt doubt.

Is 'hope' really the energy I want to be imprinting on my body?
Do I really want to be 'hoping'?

The answer was a resounding NO. Inspirational women do NOT sit around hoping. Inspirational Women are not desiring of their dreams - Inspirational Women are living their dreams. So I hopped back on Google Translate to find what would soon become my 5th tattoo. La Regina. The Queen.

So, why should you care about this?

Because differentiating between a hopeful energy and a more concrete energy is a game changer.

Right now, I want you to try something with me. Make a note of a goal or accomplishment you want to achieve. Got it?

Ok, now drop it into this sentence and read it out loud: "I hope to __________________."

How does that feel?

Now, let's try it again. Drop it into this sentence and read it out loud: "I will accomplish __________________."

How did that feel? Do you notice the difference between hoping for something and actually declaring it?

And now if you're even braver.... Try this one. Drop it into this sentence and read it out loud: "I am so grateful now that I have successfully completed __________________."

This is especially important if you use affirmations. Because whatever you affirm becomes your reality. And the reality is:

The more you affirm the energy of HOPE the more you will continue to live from a place of HOPE.

I invite you to consider.... how can you embrace your inner Inspirational Woman by eradicating your hopeful energy with concrete + active energy? Comment below and share your ideas with me!
